A step-by-step guide to how our EICR electrical inspection works in London. From booking via WhatsApp to receiving your certificate, here's what to expect. EICR from £99.
We have streamlined our EICR booking and inspection process to be as fast and convenient as possible for London. Here is what to expect from start to finish:
Contact us via WhatsApp on +447979891241. Tell us your property type (studio, 1-bed, 2-bed etc.), postcode and preferred dates. We will reply with a fixed price quote — no surveys, no surprise extras. Once you confirm, we will allocate an engineer and send you a confirmation.
We provide a 2-hour arrival window for your convenience. On the morning of the inspection, we will send you a reminder and the engineer's contact details. You can track the engineer's progress to your property in real time via our client system — no more waiting all day.
Our NAPIT-registered electrician will arrive with all necessary test equipment, including a calibrated multi-function installation tester, RCD tester, and continuity meter. The engineer will introduce themselves, show their NAPIT ID card, and explain what the inspection involves. Please ensure all circuits are accessible and that the tenant (if any) is aware of the visit.
The electrician begins with a thorough visual inspection of all accessible parts of the electrical installation — the consumer unit, visible wiring, sockets, switches, light fittings, earthing conductors and bonding. Any visible defects or observations are noted at this stage.
Following the visual inspection, a series of electrical tests are performed using calibrated test equipment. These include insulation resistance tests, earth continuity tests, earth fault loop impedance measurements and RCD operation tests. The engineer will need to switch off individual circuits briefly during testing — this usually takes between 10 and 30 seconds per circuit.
Once all testing is complete, the engineer compiles the EICR, recording every observation and test result. The report is classified as either Satisfactory (no C1 or C2 codes) or Unsatisfactory (one or more C1 or C2 codes present). The engineer will discuss the outcome with you and explain any remedial work required.
Your EICR is issued digitally on the day of inspection and is immediately available to download from your free client portal. You can share it directly with your tenant or letting agent. If the property is Unsatisfactory, we can also arrange remedial electrical works to resolve any faults found.

Our NAPIT-registered electrician arrives with all testing equipment. They show their NAPIT registration, give a brief overview of what the inspection will involve, and approximately how long it will take.
The electrician carries out a thorough visual inspection of all accessible electrical accessories, the consumer unit, earthing and bonding arrangements, cable condition and fixed electrical equipment. This phase typically takes 30–60 minutes and does not require the power to be switched off.
The engineer switches off the electrical supply for dead testing — including insulation resistance, continuity of protective conductors and ring final circuit testing. Power will be off for typically 30–90 minutes. Tenants should save any important work beforehand.
With power restored, live testing is carried out — earth fault loop impedance, RCD testing and functional tests of all protective devices. This phase takes approximately 30–60 minutes.
The engineer compiles the full EICR report on-site using specialist software. The report covers every circuit tested, every visual inspection item and all observations with codes (C1, C2, C3, FI). The overall result (Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory) is recorded.
The engineer walks through key findings with you. The full EICR is emailed to you digitally, usually within 1 hour of the inspection completing. Paper copies can be provided on request.
If the EICR is Unsatisfactory, we provide a written quote for remedial works. All work must be completed within 28 days. Once complete, a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate is issued confirming defects have been resolved.
